Who is it for?
You can combine private English lessons in the afternoon with a group course in the morning. Combining group lessons with private lessons gives you the best of both worlds. You can make swift progress and interact with other students in the group lessons and focus on your specific weak points during the private lessons. It is ideal if you want to progress faster or have specific learning needs.
You can also book private lessons only. This is ideal if you only have limited time available and want to achieve the maximum progress. During private lessons the teacher will design the curriculum around your specific needs.
Outline
You will be asked to send us a needs analysis before the course starts so we can prepare your course accordingly. Some popular areas of focus include English for Work, General English (focussing on individual weaknesses or priorities) and exam preparation.
You can expect to:
- direct your own learning, with support from the teacher;
- get plenty of feedback on your own use of language;
- discuss topics that interests you.
If you combine private lessons with group lessons, your teacher will discuss your needs and interests during the first lesson.
Shared Private LessonsTwo students can share a teacher for Private Lessons if they book together, are at a similar level and require a similar focus. The second person pays 30% of the fees.
Timetable
Private 20 usually takes place in the mornings, and Private 25 and 30 are in the mornings and afternoons. The lessons usually start at 9:00. However, they can take place any time between 8:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, subject to the availability of teachers and classrooms.
Students may choose between the vibrant, energetic city centre campus, which is at the heart of all the best that Cape Town has to offer, or the upmarket residential area of Newlands, close to the University of Cape Town. Cape Town's unique melting-pot of African and European influences means that anyone studying here is guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
