This course is designed to improve the Standard English required by pilots, air traffic controllers (ATC’s) and other personnel in the aviation Industry.
The International Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations Specialized Agency, has establish 6 levels of proficiency and all pilots and ATC’s must achieve a level 3 or higher certification.
Candidates take part in the General English (20 lessons) course and 10 afternoon Aviation lessons per week. The duration for the course is set to be 4 - 8 weeks for everyone with an Intermediate (B1) to Advanced (C1) level of English.
Our English for Aviation course is designed and delivered by an experienced aviation examiner. In line with the regulations set by the ICAO, the skills that will be focused on will include Pronunciation, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Interactions and Structure.
Together we will concentrate on your
- Pronunciation, clarity of speech and vocabulary.
- The structure of the language.
- Fluency in the use of English.
- Comprehension.
- Clear verbal communication between pilots, ATC’s and other aviation personnel.
- Most importantly, the ability to hear and understand accents and delivery speeds.
The course will be designed around your needs and will include:
- Reading and comprehension exercises.
- Speaking exercises & presentation skills, concentrating on aviation topics.
- Aircraft architecture.
- Describing weather patterns.
- WO5SC and describing these factors.
- Crash site reporting.
- Ground-to-air listening exercises.
- Describing emergency situations.
- General conversation concentrating on aviation topics.
Underlying the curriculum, emphasis will be placed on fluency, pronunciation and listening and written comprehension.
All course material will be supplied.
At the end of the course, each candidate will be asessed on the various elements included in the curriculum.
