Private Pilot Licence (PPL) 

This is the foundation for all your future flying. Once a student obtains their Private Pilot Licence, they are permitted to carry passengers during daylight hours. The licence permits one to fly for recreation or business purposes without remuneration. Students are required to complete 8 theoretical examinations, and 50 flying hours, before graduating.

A PPL takes approximately 5-6 months to complete. This may, however, vary for each individual student.

Private Pilot Licence Requirements:
  • (Helicopter) 50 hours flying time
  • (Aeroplane) 45 hours flying time
  • Be 16 years of age to go solo
  • Be at least 17 years of age to obtain a PPL 
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand English and pass the English Proficiency Examination
  • A Class I or II Aviation Medical: We can assist your Aviation Medical appointment
Theoretical Courses and Examinations:
  • Radio Telephony: Restricted Radio License
  • Air Law 
  • Aircraft General – Engines and Airframes 
  • Human Performance
  • Principals of Flight 
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • General Navigation
  • Flight Performance and Planning
